“The Information-Action Ratio is the place to go.”
Alternatively described as lounge pop, glam pop and sometimes space pop, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino is the sixth studio album from English band The Arctic Monkeys.
The band hails from Sheffield, and singer Alex Turner’s distinct accent is a hallmark of the band.
Tranquility Base marked a departure from the band’s guitar heavy sound. The album was written by Turner on his Steinway in his Los Angeles home. The album lyrics explores themes of science fiction and film, touching on consumerism, religion, politics and technology through the concept of a luxury hotel and casino on the moon.
Tranquility Base is, of course, the site of the Apollo 11 landing in 1960 and is the spot where the first human walked on the surface of a celestial body.
